wonders of the universe during a visit to the National Space Centre . in Leicester.

Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for Junior TARS and include a splendid show in the

planetarium.

Wooden Spoon PuppetsRetell Ransome’s ‘Swallows and Amazons’ stories in a new way at our Puppet Day. Share some different creative techniques for making puppets of your favourite characters and use them to act out scenes from some of the books.  There will be a charge of £5 per adult to pay for some of the cost of materials, with Junior TARS costs being met by Midland Region.

trad_boat_logoLearn about how Scarab was built and Swallow repaired with a tour of Classic Sailboats Ltd near Caernarfon on Saturday afternoon.  On Sunday morning visit Slater Bob at Llanberis Slate Museum.

You are welcome to join in for either day, or why not make a weekend of it?        Camping is available at Challoner Campsite, Erw Hywel Farm in Llanrug for £4 per person per night.    Please book this directly with the campsite on 01286 672985

Use porcelain paints and pens to turn a plain mug into your own special Ransome-themed creation in the morning.  For the afternoon bring along a favourite book or two to introduce fellow TARS members to.  Come for either or both parts of the day as you prefer.

Please be aware this is up 4 short flights of stairs!!!

‘Swallowdale’ Camp @ "Swallowdale"

Saturday 27 – Monday 29 August

Come and camp at ‘Swallowdale’ in north Derbyshire, close to Sheffield. We will be following trails, having adventures and cooking on the camp fire.

There are basic camping facilities on a field owned by TARS members. The weekend will cost approximately £12 per person, which includes some of the campfire cooking ingredients. Places are limited and booking by 30 July is essential, with a deposit of £5 per head please. on a “Wild Cat Island”

 in the River Trent

Thanks to 2nd Beeston Sea Scouts who will ferry us from Beeston Marina to their Barton Island on Saturday at 11 and not pick us up until Sunday at afternoon

 

 Ideal for those who can manage with no electricity and running water!!

 

 Practice your campfire cooking; bring your own food (or fishing rod) and tent; Lots of space to camp and some bunkhouse space also available.

p.s. really we plan to have an open canoe so not quite abandoned- see here for last time we went.
