Bird Watching & More

Saturday 21 October 2017

Visit the Slimbridge Wetland Centre

Adult tickets cost £12.26, concessions £9.45, 4-16 years £6.75 and there is also a family rate of £34.27 for two adults and two children ( a 10% discount can be obtained by booking online in advance). Under 4s and WWT members will get free entry.

Once inside we will meet at the coffee stand at 11am to decide where people are interested in going as there are many different areas where you can see particular birds, including flamingoes, and also otters.

Benjamin particularly suggests going up the tower for fine views over the Severn estuary and, for the more energetic, undertaking a canoe safari. The cost for this is £7 per canoe for one hour, with each canoe holding three people. There are no age restrictions, but under 18s must be accompanied by an adult and you must fit into one of the supplied life jackets. It would be a good idea to bring telescopes, binoculars and cameras if you have them.

Food can be bought in the Kingfisher Kitchen, or bring a packed lunch. See Signals for how to contact Vicky or e-mail
