July 15th (Sat) Grantchester Walk. Meet 2.30pm at the entrance to the Orchard Tea Rooms car park (CB3 9ND) for a short guided walk around Grantchester. Rupert Brooke, one of the Dymock Poets and a friend of Edward Thomas and Lascelles Abercrombie, lived here just before the First World War. It is also the location for the TV series Grantchester. There is a parking charge for cars in the car park and it is a popular venue for tourists. Parking on the road at various places in the village is usually possible. Afternoon tea at the Orchard is always an experience although you can bring your own and picnic by the nearby river. Book with Brian Key (01245 263579; chair.east@arthur-ransome.org.uk)
