International ‘Talk Like a Pirate Day’ was created in 1995 by John Baur and Mark Summers, of Albany, Oregon, U.S.A. They proclaimed September 19th each year the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. Especially Nancy Blackett, Missee Lee, the Death and Glories and any TARS on board Peter Duck.
It has taken our Society too long to catch up with this event. Its time to claim it for ourselves by shivering our timbers, BBQing billygoats and speaking over, or through, Oxford marmalade at breakfast – where available.
This year we don’t expect photos for our Global Event as its too close to the Literary Weekend.
If you have an outstanding success do get in touch to tell us about it via email, TARS Facebooks, twitter etc.
Phrases in Somali ought to be acceptable too!
