Saturday 11th May
from The Old Nags Head
Hope Valley, Edale S33 7ZD
Walk the dramatic gritstone-edged, heather-robed, peaty moorlands trails and windswept tors of Kinder Scout, near to Edale in the Dark Peak of the Derbyshire Peak District, site of the infamous 1932 ‘Mass Tresspass.’ The ‘three peaks’ refers to Kinder Scout being the highest point in the Peak District, the highest point in Derbyshire and the highest point in the East Midlands, at 636 metres (2087 ft) above sea level. It is home to Kinder Downfall, the tallest waterfall in the Peak District with a 30 metre fall.
Expect a hike of 7.75 miles (12.5 km) on undulating peaty/rocky paths, with an ascent of 1800ft, over approximately 4.5 hours. (Can be extended depending on interests.)
